Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has started construction on a second location on the east side of Houston.

The 3,600-square-foot restaurant at Beltway 8 and Crenshaw in Pasadena will have seating for 100 when it opens in early 2017.

Until recently, the chain’s growth has been concentrated in the west and northwest areas of Houston since the first location opened in the Copperfield area a few years ago. A location in Baytown east of Houston opened in Chambers Town Center earlier this year.

“We have seven locations along the western edge of the city, with an eighth currently under construction at 21420 Kuykendahl Road in Spring that is currently expected to open later this fall,” Padden Nelson, franchise owner said.

The chain has grown to 217 locations in 30 states since its first location opened in Wichita, Kan., in 2002.
