CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fast-casual restaurant franchise, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, recently broke ground at 402 W Towncenter Blvd., near Market Place Shopping Center. The retro-style concept is slated to open in the fall, and serves a menu of lean ground-beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs and shoestring fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is churned fresh several times throughout the day.
“The family-friendly community that Champaign offers makes the area a great all-around match for Freddy’s,” said Jerry Myerscough, franchise owner. “The Market Place Shopping Center is a prime point of interest in the city, with a steady flow of traffic through the area. Our hope is to be a convenient dining option for hungry nearby shoppers and area residents.”
The 3,500 square-foot, end-cap restaurant will seat 100 guests, with additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service will also be available.
“If you’ve never enjoyed a Freddy’s steakburger, your taste buds are in for a treat,” said Myerscough. “One of our most popular menu items is the Original Double combo meal, which comes with two steakburger patties we press thin and sear on a flat grill, and top with Freddy’s seasoning, cheese, mustard, pickle planks and onion slices, all on a toasted bun. The meal is also served with a heaping portion of our shoestring fries, and a drink.”
