A Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, which has been under construction in Cowan Crossing on U.S. 1, will open at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 21.

Freddy’s is a fast-casual national restaurant chain based in Wichita, Kan., that’s known for its burgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, and frozen custard. It was founded in 2002 by restaurateur Scott Redler and two brothers, Bill and Randy Simon, whose father, Freddy Simon, was the inspiration for the restaurant and its namesake.

The chain has more than 280 locations nationwide. The closest is in Carter’s Crossing West shopping center off U.S. 17 in Stafford County.
