A new entrant in the Chicago-area fast-food mix, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers expects to open later this month in Orland Park , the first of three planned Southland locations.

The company, which has been experiencing huge growth, opening dozens of locations each year, also plans stores in Frankfort and Homewood.

The Orland Park restaurant, 7402 W. 159th St., west of Home Depot and near Heartis Village assisted living center, is scheduled to open Feb. 20, according to Randy Simon, president and chief executive.

Village officials in Homewood recently approved plans for a Freddy’s at 17601 S. Halsted St., and the company is in the process of applying for building permits, according to Angela Mesaros, Homewood’s economic development director.
