MCALLEN, Texas – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opens its second area location on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 2624 Expressway 83 at Shoppes at 29th. The fast-casual restaurant concept made its area debut when it opened last fall in Pharr at 2033 W. Interstate 2.
“It’s been a whirlwind year and we’re grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received,” said James Oberg, franchise owner. “We hope this new location will make Freddy’s a more convenient dining option for Palms Crossing shoppers, visitors of the McAllen Convention Center, and area residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.”
The 3,251 square-foot franchise location seats 96 guests and has additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to midnight. Menu items include lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs and shoestring fries, as well as an assortment of dessert treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.
“Many of our guests are interested to learn that frozen custard is denser, richer and creamier than ice cream, due to a churning process that eliminates ice crystals and excess air,” said Oberg. “We churn it fresh onsite throughout the day.”
