“Our Pumpkin Pie Concrete has been a Guest favorite for 12 years,” said Scott, co-founder, owner, FredHead and original concrete blender. “When we created this recipe, we tried many versions, and the winner was always a fresh slice of pie, with that flaky, buttery crust included, to give the concrete a little bit of texture and that pumpkin spice flavor we all crave come fall.”
What is a Frozen Custard Concrete?
Let’s start with frozen custard: frozen custard originated on New York’s Coney Island at the turn of the 20th century. It’s smoother, denser and richer than ice cream, thanks to a churning process that minimizes ice crystals and removes excess air. At Freddy’s, we use America’s finest dairy ingredients and churn our frozen custard throughout the day, every day in each restaurant. It’s always fresh and ready to enjoy.
Now let’s talk about frozen custard concretes: our concretes are made with Freddy’s fresh frozen custard and blended with mix-ins like chocolate fudge, caramel, candy pieces, nuts or fruit (30 toppings to choose from!). Since the frozen custard is already denser than ice cream, when it’s blended with toppings, it creates a frozen dessert much thicker than a shake (it definitely requires a spoon) and oh, so delightful!
