A popular burger chain is set to open its first San Marcos location on Saturday.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers’ new store is located on the northbound Interstate 35 frontage just north of Highway 123.
Franchise owner James Oberg calls it a better-burger concept.
“The food is cooked to order; no heat lamps or warming drawers. We also focus on the dining experience and strive to provide genuine hospitality in a casual and friendly environment,” he said.
Oberg says the location has hired more than 80 employee as they prepare for this week’s opening.
Freddy’s joins a growing list of new restaurants to open this year in San Marcos, with more expected in the coming weeks.
“We hope to become a go-to restaurant for area residents, students and hungry commuters along I-35,” Oberg said.
