WICHITA, Kan. – Fast-casual restaurant concept, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers®, opens Monday, Aug. 20, on the first floor of Wichita State University’s Rhatigan Student Center (RSC), in time for the start of the fall semester. The location is owned and operated by Chartwells Higher Education, a licensee of Freddy’s. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m. on opening day in the RSC.
“We opened the first Freddy’s in 2002 on West 21st and Tyler. Since then, we’ve grown to over 300 restaurants across the U.S, and this location marks our first restaurant on a college campus,” said Randy Simon, CEO and co-founder. “We’re proud to bring Freddy’s to a university that is near and dear to us, where Freddy himself played varsity basketball and graduated after the end of World War II.”
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Freddy’s is known for its cooked-to-order steakburgers made with lean 100 percent ground beef, Vienna® Beef hot dogs, crispy shoestring fries and frozen custard treats made with freshly churned chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.
