Construction is underway for the Mid-South’s newest fast-casual and frozen treat food chain, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers.
Crews have broken ground on the 825 N. Germantown Parkway location, which is strategically located near the Gameday Baseball Park in Cordova. The new restaurant will be the third Freddy’s in Tennessee, joining the Kingsport and Johnson City locations in East Tennessee.
“Breaking into a larger market like Memphis, where we may not have the name recognition certainly poses a challenge, but one we’re up for,” fracnhise operating partner Tim Heeren said. “We feel Memphis, specifically the North Germantown Road corridor, is a nice fit for Freddy’s.”
In October, Heeren applied for an $850,000 building permit. Heeren told The Daily News at the time he planned to tear down the Pizza Hut that was previously occupying the location and build a new 3,010-square-foot building.
The Cordova restaurant will be able to seat 100 guests inside, with additional room on the patio and drive-through service.
