TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will make its Tuscaloosa debut on Tuesday, August 30, at 315 15th St., near the University of Alabama. It is the second Alabama location for the Kansas-based, fast-casual restaurant franchise, which opened a location in the Birmingham-metro market in March.
“We’re known for our premium, lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, and shoestring fries that our guests enjoy dipping in our signature fry sauce,” said Brian Pyle, franchise operator. “To craft our steakburgers—namely the Original Double—we press the meat thin and sear on a flat grill until the edges are deliciously crispy. We sprinkle the patties with our famous steakbuger and fry seasoning, and then top with cheese, mustard, onion slices and pickle planks, all served on a toasted bun.”
The 3,200 square-foot restaurant hopes to quickly become a go-to dining establishment for university students, especially on gameday. It seats roughly 100 guests with additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“For dessert, we offer treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard,” said Pyle. “We churn the frozen custard fresh in the restaurant several times throughout the day, and we offer more than 30 toppings and mix-ins, including candy, fruit, and nuts. Guests have the option to order their custard, with added toppings, prepared one of two ways: a sundae or a concrete. A sundae is just like it sounds, and a concrete is when the toppings are blended into the custard.”
