In the first 21 weeks of 2015, Freddy’s Frozen Custard opened 21 new locations across the country. Owner Bill Simon says the Wichita-based restaurant chain hopes to have 185 by the end of 2015.

“The growth has been unbelievable and it’s good for Wichita too,” Simon said.

Simon opened his first location along side his brothers and business partners on Rock Road in Wichita in 2002. Simon says they only planned on opening the one, but 13 years later they have 160 locations across the United States.

“We didn’t know if the concept would work outside the Midwest, or more accurately away from Freddy,” Simon said.

Simon named the restaurant after his dad. Freddy Simon is a WWII veteran and life-long Kansan who tours the Wichita locations at least once a week. WATCH HERE
