A restaurant known for its Vienna beef hot dogs, custard and lean ground-beef steakburgers has broken ground on a new location in the metro area.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has started construction at 5537 Grove Blvd. in Hoover’s Grove Shopping Center, and the fast-casual restaurant should open this spring.

“The Grove retail corridor is quickly growing, and we look forward to being part of the new development in the area,” said Brian Pyle, franchise operator. “The proximity to I-459 makes us a convenient dining option for guests traveling along the highway, as well as for guests looking for a quick bite to eat after enjoying a day of shopping.”

The 3,622-square-foot, free-standing restaurant will seat 100 guests and offer drive-through service.

It’s the second location in the metro for Freddy’s. Another is located at 301 Doug Baker Blvd. and has been in business since spring 2016Vestavia Hills also eyed a Freddy’s in 2016.
