SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers opens its second Springfield location on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 3784 Wabash Ave. The Kan.-based fast-casual restaurant concept is known for its ground beef steakburgers and frozen custard treats, along with an atmosphere that puts a modern-day spin on the classic era of the late 1940s and early 1950s.
“Our co-founder and namesake, Freddy Simon, is a 91-year-old World War II veteran,” said Jerry Myerscough, franchise owner and operator. “The restaurant walls are filled with photos from his childhood, his time in the service, and his post-war family life. Add in a mix of Top 40 tunes accompanied by array of classic-hit favorites and it creates a dining experience that’s comfortable for guests of all ages.”
The 3,400 square-foot, freestanding location seats 100 guests, and has additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“We made our Springfield debut at 3205 Clearlake in 2013,” said Myerscough. “That location has gradually become a local go-to for a quick bite to eat, and serves as a great place for friends and family to meet up, relax and enjoy a quality meal together. We knew this was the right time to expand, and we’re grateful for the community support.”
